  • Provides technical guidance for managing and monitoring information systems operations.  Designs, builds, implements network and voice systems. Monitors and responds to complex technical hardware and software problems.  Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded systems performance.  Performs a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with systems design, integration and implementation.  Provides routine testing and analysis of all elements of the infrastructure.  Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting performance.
  • The candidate for this position will work with a team of UC, Network and Server engineers and will be responsible for designing, managing and implementing data/voice solutions as per AF enterprise standards in support of 66 ABG/SC and their customers under Core Services. The candidate will assist in planning of data/voice environments for internal customers, develop and review procedures for data/voice platform in relation to capacity planning, performance, reliability and security. The candidate will use skills and experience as well as tools and technology to design, install, configure and troubleshoot data/voice infrastructure and provide customer support for data/voice related services. The candidate will have the capability to deliver results under pressure and work on multiple tasks concurrently. The candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in designing enterprise data/telephony solutions that will increase performance and flexibility to existing converged Gigabit Ethernet network infrastructure in accordance with AF UC policies and standards. The candidate will work independently as well as in team environment. The position provides a wide range of services which ensure network is compliant with applicable directives, publications, and/or guidelines as governed by external DoD agencies. 
  • Section Install, upgrade, operate, maintain, and configure all equipment/firmware/software required to ensure availability of all identified data/voice services in accordance with AF certification and accreditation and information assurance standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of associated telephony/VoIP/PBX standards and protocols such as ADC, SIP,H.323, QoS design & operation, Unistim and VCD is required
  • Hands-on experience in planning / design / configuration / installation / troubleshooting of Avaya, Cisco and / or Juniper product lines of routers / switches, a must
  • In-depth hands on experience of configuring / managing / troubleshooting Nortel / Avaya  AS5300, Polycom RMX & DMA , IADs, Redsky E-911, Callware FoIP, T-Metrics ACD
  • In-depth experience troubleshooting SIP-based sessions across internal, service provider & external networks
  • Working knowledge of legacy Nortel CS1000M/E, Media Gateways, Signaling Servers and Call Pilot is preferred
  • Strong network debugging and troubleshooting skills required
  • Create and maintain operational procedures, topology maps using Visio
  • Must have firm understanding and experience with databases, servers and windows and Linux based operating systems or appliances
  • Hands-on experience in configuration/troubleshooting of NSA Type-1 network encryptors such as TACLANES desired.
  • Ability to use packet capture and protocol analysis tools and techniques 
  • Work with vendors, evaluate vendor hardware, software and communications products and make recommendations according to customer needs
  • Interfaces with distributed organizational Telephone Control Officers, conducting and attending planning meetings, reviewing existing and projected voice line counts and assignments, surveying communication room and telephony backboard terminations and cross-connects & creation and updates of notional voice line cut-sheets for engineering capacity planning and processing detailed cut sheets
  • Must be disciplined in approach to operational excellence and execute detailed record keeping for adherence to locally established and required military processes and procedures. Required to research technical issues and develop solutions using strong attention to detail.
  • Work dynamically and effectively with people on projects (formal and informal) and conduct technical interchanges as required; responsibilities include collaborative reporting, planning and interactions with leads as well as with company and subcontracted team members and management structures, as well as highly focused subject matter experts.
  • Supports emergency operations on an as needed basis 24/7 & weekend work maybe required as project or issues warrant
  • Knowledge of W2K8/W2K12/IIS is an added plus
  • Experience with VB scripting is an added plus
  • Strong working knowledge of Telecom, including ISDN/T-1, Voice Protection Systems and IP address Management/DHCP, Radius, DNS etc.
  • Must have excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift about 50+lbs required
