Position Summary:
Senior Network Engineer III responsible for daily operations, maintenance and security compliance of network and voice telecommunications devices and logical configurations in an enterprise IT environment. Resolution of trouble tickets escalated to purview where within scope and breadth of knowledge and experience. Troubleshooting incidents to successful resolution in an Enterprise network topology. Candidate must possess expertise and experience layer 2 and layer 3 (routing and switching) configuration and engineering as well as Voice Over IP (VOIP), and firewall ingress and egress control configuration and maintenance. Position requires understanding of and experience with change and configuration management principles and policies while adhering to strict guidelines and policy set forth by customer. Exhibit skills that shall include superior interpersonal skills, patience, clear oral communications, an ability to convert technical jargon into layman’s terms and the ability to juggle priorities on-the-fly.
  • Daily engineering, network analysis, O&M, capacity management, corrective task management to mitigate security incidents identified by security team and collaboration with server engineering teams for design and new installations or changes to existing infrastructure and application software requirements.
  • Lead lower level network engineers/technicians for daily tasks and work with subject matter experts to complete tasks for engineering and configuration changes within an enterprise network environment to present highest availability to customer.
  • Ticket creation and queue management within an IT service management system.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Standard office work environment with occasional lifting requirements to install equipment.
  • Degree from accredited college or university in related field, or equivalent years of specialized technical experience and/or technical training
  • Requires more than 10 years of responsibility or complex experience managing enterprise network topologies. Tier II engineers are mid-level to senior experts who are thoroughly knowledgeable in their respective areas of expertise and also possess knowledge and experience in areas that that intersect with their areas of expertise.
  • Shall possess the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, and perform some of the following duties:
    • Hands-on experience with the configuration and maintenance of Cisco Nexus switches
    • Possesses extensive experience with Cisco routers and switches.
    • In-depth experience with the design and build of enterprise network architectures
    • Substantive experience interfacing with network carriers and ISPs in LAN/WAN solution design and operational troubleshooting
    • Performs end-to-end troubleshooting of LAN/WAN/WWAN and data center internetworking connectivity and performance issues including routing and switching, caching, video distribution engines, call managers and application accelerators.
    • Exhibits ability to troubleshoot and efficiently resolve Layer 2/3 connectivity issues including Spanning Tree, VLAN, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, HSRP, Multicast, QoS.
    • Possesses operational experience in VoIP solutions and VoIP-infrastructure configuration and support, contact centers. Exhibits operational expertise with VoIP (Shoretel) and SIP solutions including telephony applications such as call center, contact center, click-to-call.
    • Possesses enterprise-level operational experience with data networks and Windows/VMware high availability solutions.
    • Possesses expert knowledge of telecommunication transports, IP data communications, local area and wide area networking.
    • Monitors and administers VOIP-infrastructure to proactively determine growth patterns of disk space usage and general activity.
    • Designs, tests, and deploys Customer Auto Call Center Distribution, Computer Telephony Integration, and Intelligent Voice Response scripts to support the enterprise goals.
    • Manages entire enterprise network projects from conception to execution, including LAN/WAN/wireless design, implementation, firewall security, network load balancing, mobile access, WAN acceleration, compression, VoIP and COOP availability and Disaster Recovery.
    • Provides remote network consulting and network management for business critical wired and wireless voice, video, and data networks.
    • Maintains knowledge base and stay abreast of developments in latest network hardware/software technologies and actively updates skills to keep abreast of changes in the industry and provides design recommendations, and expert advice on new or evolving system configurations and for existing system upgrades.
    • Maintains standards and Policy documentation for all production-environment products. Manages network asset inventory.
  • VPN hands on experience a must.
  • Hands on ASA experience a must.
  • DMVPN experience highly desirable.
  • MTIPS experience highly desirable.
  • Palo Alto firewall experience a must.
  • One or more of the following: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE Routing and Switching), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert Voice (CCIE Voice)
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
