Position Summary:

Database Specialist for IT and Cloud support services for a Department of Homeland Security customer.  Provides all activities related to the administration of computerized databases. Able to communicate with management, technicians, and end-users to evaluate need prior to development of an automated solution. Prepares detailed  reports which might include system requirements such as concurrent usage factors, data storage requirements, response rates, discuss procedures for processing data through the use of data base management systems including relational data bases.

Qualifications:
 

  • Need to have experience with open source products, databases, networks, virtual machines, storage, and middleware to support the design of the infrastructure sizing and scaling for enterprise applications in cloud environments
  • Need to have broad enterprise experience including a deep understanding of the TCP/IP Stack, firewalls, routers, switches, LANs, WANs, and MANs.
  • Enterprise experience should include knowledge of three tiered architectures, security tools, such as HIDS/HIPS, A-V scanning, monitoring, and other security tools, as well as enterprise remote access methods including Xceedium, RDP, SSH, jump servers and other remote access solutions
  • Experience developing governance models and how the client will interact with Cloud services, to include chargeback and billing
  • Experience performing requirements analysis, understanding existing enterprise applications, and developing migration solutions based on existing system and application constraints
  • Responsible for ensuring the design and cloud environment are scalable for OCIO
  • Minimum 15 years of experience as an IT Solutions Architect or similar position
  • Experience and knowledge of DEVOPS models.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands on experience developing and maintaining applications in the Cloud environment – AWS or Azure preferred.
  • Must be well versed in various Cloud services implementations
  • Must have extensive expertise in the design and implementation of end-to-end applications and external systems integration
  • Experience working in a CI/CD environment, build and deployment automation and tools such as Jenkins, Chef, Puppet and Ansible is highly preferred.
  • Experience working as a full stack engineer is preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project to develop technical project plans to implement enterprise solutions
  • Prefer Certifications for AWS or similar Architect certifications
Essential Functions and Responsibility:
  • Plan, design, implement and support the Cloud Framework and Governance for OCIO
  • Review over 80 applications for OCIO and determine the optimal frameworks for moving to the Cloud
  • Augment the ICE ASB Team, for migration of applications to the Cloud, including requirements analysis and documenting enterprise application constraints
  • Routinely meet and brief ICE senior Leadership to market and earn Buy-in for proposed frameworks
  • Attend meetings with customers and communicate with Senior Leadership within OCIO
  • Coordinate among a large number of stakeholder groups within ICE to understand existing conditions, requirements and constraints, and to plan, design, and implement enterprise solutions
  • Ultimately make DHS more efficient using cost-effective delivery of cloud technologies
  • Ensure that the plan, design, configuration and implementation of cloud meets government compliance and security standards, as well as meeting application requirements
