Position Summary

The Network Administrator will be responsible for planning, designing, managing, and maintaining multiple IP routed network enclaves within a Department of Defense environment.  The network Administrator will work closely with the IT Site lead to ensure that all network enclaves are secured in accordance with DoD, DISA, and Air Force policies.

The selected candidate is expected to be highly proficient in OSI Layer troubleshooting, utilizing software and hardware tools to identify and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance, demonstrating a proven ability to engineer routers, switches, Firewalls, VPNs, and encryption devices. 

As part of day-to-day operations, the selected candidate will design, build, test, and implement network systems, including Cisco routers, switches, ASAs, and development environments.  JPRA Network Administrators work in close proximity with Security, Windows/Linux System Administrators, and SANS Storage Administrators, and as such are often tasked with supporting the installation and troubleshooting of network systems components. Network Administrators will utilize Microsoft Visio to maintain and upgrade the current networking and system charts as well as prepare new network and systems designs as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrated technical experience with Layer 2, 3 and 4 networking and Cisco Catalyst 2900s, 3750s, 4500's, Cisco Nexus 5k. (To include current Routing/Switching network hardware & protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, IP SLA, BGP, VoIP, etc.) and Internet standards
  • Experience with Network Management and analysis tools (Solarwinds, Cisco ASDM)
  • Familiarity with DoD STIG implementation
  • Experience with configuring and managing security solutions, including ASA firewalls, TACLANES, anti-virus solutions, VPN, IPS, Web filters, etc.
  • Familiarity with ECVoIP, STE Support, and VIPERS
  • BMC Remedy Help Desk experience a plus
  • Experience with IAS/Radius server configuration/administration.
  • Experience with commercial carrier and DoD circuits and connectivity, supporting voice, video, and data, from T-1 to OC-12 data rates, and their interfaces.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of virtualization technologies i.e. VMware, Hyper-V, and VDI deployment from a networking perspective.
  • Install, support, and maintain network hardware and software.
  • Install, support, and maintain ASA firewalls.
  • Install, support, and maintain VoSIP phones.
  • Analyze and isolate network issues.
  • Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to all users.
  • Evaluate and modify network system’s to provide optimal performance.
  • Perform network address management.
  • Assign routing protocols and routing table configuration.
  • Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services.
  • Ensure the protection of electronic data transport and configure appropriate physical and logical network definitions that include perimeter networking, including DMZ, and logical network segment (VLAN) and VPN configurations.
  • Maintain all components that support transport services, including: Circuits, Switches, Routers, TACLANES Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, Intrusion Protections Systems, and similar security systems; cryptographic equipment; network cabling; dial-up and VPN communications systems; wireless communication systems; and local and wide area network communications hardware.
  • Establish and implement network procedures and standards to ensure their conformance with information systems and mission objectives.
  • Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with VTC and Telephone support as needed.
  • Assist the Systems Administration team with the configuration and support of a fiber channel network.
  • Study vendor products to recommend those which best meet customer needs.
  • Develop practical and supportable proposals that provide for comprehensive communications and processing needs to support IT requests and /or upgrades.
  • Maintain detailed network drawings for all network enclaves

Education:
  • Bachelors Degree(four year college or technical school): preferred 

Experience:
  • 10 plus years of experience administering networks, servers, and workstations;
  • providing desktop/video/communications support, and/or information assurance.
  • Supported systems include, but not limited to: Cisco, HP, Dell, EMC, Lenovo, Polycom, Taclanes

Computer Skills:
  • Experience with Cisco networking equipment including ASA firewalls and Cisco 3750s. 
  • Experience with Cisco 4500 (preferred).
  • Experience with TACLANE equipment: KG-175 and KIV7 (preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications to include Microsoft Visio.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have an understanding of DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS).
  • Experience with Solarwinds Administration (preferred)
Certs & Licenses
  • Security+ Certification Required. 
  • DoD 8570 IAT II or IAT III (Any of: GSEC, Security+, SCNP, SSCP, CISA, SCNA, CISSP, or GCIH)
  • Cisco CCNA certification required, CCNP Certification preferred
